“The Seasons” is an important evolutionary step in the mythology in which the creatures begin to discover love and attachment. It centers on two contrasting characters: a dark, wandering protagonist and flowery feminine heroine loosely based on the country music couple George Jones and Tammy Wynette. They inhabit markedly different worlds and come together through a series of events. The video is comprised of seven parts: Drifting, Yearning, Courtship, Union, Treachery, a Fall from Grace, and Death. The dark character begins his journey adrift at sea, lost in a thick fog while the flowery heroine sails her boat through a sea of flowers. She yearns for him and essentially manifests their union into being. After a brief courtship period they’re married and a life of promise unfolds before them. Meanwhile a red demon, wandering in a barren landscape of rock and crystal begins to contrive a devious plot against them. The dark character falls into his trap and the Yellow Maiden mourns him as he dies. The costumes and objects featured in the installation “Nothing But Blue Skies” are artifacts from this project. Above are two video excerpts from “The Seasons” and a clip from a satellite project “Lolita in the Grass”.
